All such programmes are planned specially for each group, and in consultation with the catechists and where possible the young people themselves.  Please contact us for ideas.

Preparing teenagers for their confirmation presents a challenge to all those involved.  Probably there are three main aims:

  • helping them to understand the graces of the sacrament, the action of the Holy Spirit in their lives, and strengthening their commitment to the church in the future;
  • preparing them for adult and leadership roles within the Christian community, including becoming aware of the needs of our world and discerning the signs of our times;
  • helping them through their adolescence and their growth towards maturity.

We work with parishes to provide a one day or a weekend programme to develop all of these areas as a supplement to their regular confirmation programmes.  As well as strengthening the work done in the regular meetings in the parish, a day or two away can provide a focus for their development, and can be presented as something enjoyable and worthwhile on their way towards their confirmation day.

We have a lot of ideas for activities with such programmes which usually work with teenagers, and which fit in with many parish preparation programmes.   However we do not have a standard programme, and invariably work with parish staff and confirmation catechists to develop the best programme for each particular group.

A typical programme would be for a day or a weekend.  As well as a range of activities, each designed to help the group in their understanding and development, there is often a chance to pray together, and if desired mass together celebrated in a style which involves the young people in its preparation and celebration.   And there are some activities which are simply enjoyable and fun.

To discuss arrangements, please contact the secretary in the first instance.  A facilitator will be appointed from our staff to work with you to plan a suitable programme.
